Telehealth Therapy

Telehealth for mental health providers in Montana is the use of secure telecommunications technology to provide mental health services to patients remotely. This includes services like diagnosis, consultation, and intervention. 

Montana telehealth providers must follow specific rules, including consent, confidentiality, and record keeping. Providers must also ensure that telehealth services are medically necessary and clinically appropriate. 

Consent
  • Providers must follow the same consent and patient information protocols as in-person visits 
  • Ensure patients have the same rights to confidentiality and security as in-person visits 
Record keeping
  • Providers must comply with record keeping requirements established by the Montana Department of Labor and Industry 
  • Providers must submit claims using the appropriate CPT or HCPCS code 
Services
  • Providers can use secure portal messaging, secure instant messaging, telephone communication, or audiovisual communication 
  • Providers cannot provide telehealth services in a setting or manner not authorized by law 
  • Providers must be licensed in Montana 
Reimbursement

In addition, Michael also spend a year in Houston at the Institute of Sports Performance as a performance consultant working with athletes, coaches, administrators, and families.
