After a 33-year career teaching industrial arts and technology education, Kirk has embarked on a new, but connected, journey. He taught middle and high school students, instilling a passion for the vocational trades he believes are the “salt-of-the-earth” professions that keep our world running. His summers were spent in the blue-collar world of construction and manufacturing, giving him a unique perspective that bridges academics and hands-on work.
Now, he’s building on that foundation of service by finishing a master’s degree in counseling at the Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine. He’s also working toward his LCPC license at CrossWay, driven by a deep desire to help people heal and grow. This passion is born from his own life experiences—he’s a cancer survivor, as are both of his daughters, and the loss of his mother just before his high school graduation shaped his life’s path.
A lifelong Montanan, Kirk still holds a deep affection for the prairies where he grew up on a family farm, working alongside his parents and grandparents. He believes that true healing comes from understanding our needs for “relational nutrients,” which the Townsend Institute teaches through grace, truth, and time.
Kirk believes that everyone has a divine purpose. He understands that while people can cause pain, God’s plan is to bring healing through others. He offers an attentive and accepting ear, creating a safe space for you to share your story and begin a journey toward healing.
